Bagheera is a 2024 Indian Kannada-language superhero film written and directed by Dr. Suri, based on a story by Prashanth Neel. It is produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner of Hombale Films. The film features Sriimurali in the titular role, alongside Rukmini Vasanth, Prakash Raj, Sudha Rani, Ramachandra Raju, Achyuth Kumar, and Rangayana Raghu in prominent roles. The music is composed by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, while cinematography and editing are handled by Arjun Shetty and Pranav Sri Prasad, respectively.

Released on 31 October 2024 during the Diwali festival, Bagheera received positive reviews for its gripping narrative, compelling performances, and engaging action sequences. The film was a commercial success, grossing ₹29 crore (approximately US$3.5 million), becoming the highest-grossing Kannada film of the year.

Vedanth Prabhakar, a young boy, dreams of becoming a superhero. His mother, before succumbing to cancer, tells him that ordinary people, especially police officers, are the true heroes of society. Inspired by her words, Vedanth decides to follow in his father Prabhakar's footsteps and become a police officer.

Years later, Vedanth completes his police training and is posted to Mangalore. There, he meets Sneha, a compassionate and independent doctor. The two grow close, eventually getting engaged. However, Vedanth’s idealistic vision of justice is shattered when he conducts a police raid and arrests a group of criminals, only to see them released due to corruption among senior officials. He is further devastated to discover that his own father is complicit in this corruption.

One day, Vedanth witnesses a harrowing incident where a young girl, a victim of sexual assault, sets herself ablaze in despair. The incident leaves him deeply shaken. Determined to bring justice, Vedanth adopts the identity of a vigilante named Bagheera. By night, he brutally punishes criminals, while maintaining the guise of a corrupt police officer during the day to avoid suspicion. Vedanth finds support in Narayana, an honest and loyal head constable who shares his vision of justice.

Mangalore is soon plagued by a series of kidnappings. Vedanth, as Bagheera, investigates and discovers a human trafficking network led by Kotian, a notorious criminal. During a raid at the port, Vedanth interrupts Kotian’s operation, but is injured in a shootout. With Sneha’s help, he recovers and continues his mission. He later learns that Kotian killed his own family to protect them from Rana, a powerful crime boss running an organ trafficking ring. Distraught over his actions, Kotian takes his own life, leaving Vedanth to face Rana.

Meanwhile, Guru, a determined CBI officer, arrives in Mangalore. Sent by his brother, Ramakanth Appayya, the CBI director, Guru is tasked with uncovering Bagheera’s identity. Guru has a personal vendetta, as his corrupt son Siddhi was executed by Bagheera for murdering an honest journalist.

Vedanth expands his vigilante efforts by assembling a team, including a hacker, a young electronics expert, and a bomb-making specialist. They help him create advanced gadgets, a durable costume, and a high-tech bike. With these tools, Bagheera begins dismantling Rana’s empire. Rana attempts to trap Bagheera, but the vigilante uses his gadgets to escape and eliminate many of Rana’s men.

Tragedy strikes when Rana discovers Vedanth’s identity through a mole in Guru’s team. He kidnaps Sneha, forcing Vedanth to choose between saving her or a container filled with trafficked victims. Vedanth painfully opts to save the container. Sneha is brutally tortured and killed by Rana.

Overcome with grief, Vedanth is arrested by Guru and faces an encounter killing. However, Guru, realizing Siddhi’s corruption, secretly releases Vedanth and provides him with Rana’s location. In a climactic showdown aboard a train bound for Sri Lanka, Vedanth kills Rana and rescues the kidnapped victims, reuniting them with their families.

After the mission, Vedanth disappears. Guru confronts Central Minister Ramaswamy, revealing his involvement in Rana’s crimes. Guru demands his resignation, warning that Bagheera will come for him if he refuses.
