Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank Hindi Movie

Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank is a 2024 Indian Hindi-language comedy horror film. It is directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Niren Bhatt. The movie is produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios. It is the fourth installment in the Maddock Supernatural Universe and a sequel to  Stree (2018). The cast includes Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana.

Director Kaushik showed interest in a sequel back in 2018. By 2022, Rajkummar Rao confirmed its development. However, original creators Raj & DK left the franchise after a dispute over rights. Writer Niren Bhatt took over the script. The sequel was officially announced in 2023. Filming started in July and wrapped up by mid-2024. The movie was primarily shot in Chanderi and Bihar. Sachin–Jigar composed the music, with background score by Justin Varghese. Jishnu Bhattacharjee was the cinematographer, and Hemanti Sarkar handled editing.

Stree 2 released on 15 August 2024, coinciding with Independence Day. It received positive reviews and became a blockbuster. The film grossed ₹874.58 crore (US$100 million) worldwide. It became the second highest-grossing Indian film and the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024.

After Stree leaves Chanderi, a new threat emerges. Sarkata, a headless ghost, begins abducting women at night. The townspeople assume the women left for better opportunities. Rudra finds missing pages from the Chanderi Puran. He warns Vicky, but Vicky dismisses his concerns.

Bittu's girlfriend, Chitti, is taken by Sarkata. A beggar confirms the ghost's existence. Vicky, Bittu, and Rudra investigate the torn pages. They learn that Sarkata is the vengeful spirit of Chandrabhan, a former village head. Chandrabhan hated progressive women. He murdered Stree and her husband, burning them alive. Stree returned, killed Chandrabhan, and buried his body. After Stree’s departure, Sarkata returned to target progressive women.

The friends realize they need Stree’s help. They seek out Jana in Delhi, who was once possessed by Stree. Jana lives with his cousin, Bhaskar. He reluctantly agrees to help. While searching for Stree, Sarkata attacks and takes Jana’s spirit to his lair. Jana’s mortal body remains outside. Inside the lair, Jana finds the abducted women. His spirit escapes and reunites with his body. The group barely escapes, with Sarkata chasing them.

She, a mysterious woman, saves the group. She uses Stree’s braid to fight Sarkata. The townspeople blame Vicky for defeating Stree, believing this caused Sarkata's return. She convinces Vicky to take responsibility. She gives him a magical dagger to kill Sarkata.

The group lures Sarkata with a dance performance by Shama, Rudra’s ex-lover. Sarkata appears but possesses the men protecting Shama. He abducts her, and the possessed men begin controlling the women.

The group follows a clue to a psychiatric hospital. They meet a descendant of Sarkata. He reveals that Sarkata can only be defeated by someone who is neither man, woman, nor animal. She merges with Vicky to create a being capable of entering the lair. Inside, they confront Sarkata. Vicky cuts Sarkata's head, but it regenerates into multiple heads. Bhaskar joins the fight, but Sarkata overpowers them.

In desperation, She calls her mother, who is revealed to be Stree. Stree arrives and, with Vicky’s help, drags Sarkata into lava, destroying him. The abducted women are freed, and the possessed men return to normal. Vicky and his friends are hailed as heroes. She reveals that she is a ghost and came to help her mother find salvation. She promises to meet Vicky again before leaving.

In a pre-credit scene, Bhaskar asks Jana to set him up with She. Jana refuses, but Bhaskar continues to plead. Bhaskar mentions a new threat in Delhi involving a vampire. In a mid-credit scene, Sarkata’s remains reach a mental asylum. His descendant becomes possessed, hinting at his return.
