Level Cross (2024) Hindi Dubbed Movie

Level Cross is a 2024 Indian Malayalam-language drama. It is written and directed by Arfaz Ayub in his debut. The film stars Asif Ali, Amala Paul, and Sharaf U Dheen. Music is by Vishal Chandrashekhar.

The film was shot in Tunisia and released in theaters on 26 July 2024.

A man named Raghu lives alone in a remote desert as a level-crossing gatekeeper. One day, he finds an unconscious woman. He takes her home. When she wakes, she introduces herself as Chaithali and says she fell off a train. Feeling unsafe, she leaves but collapses.

Raghu brings her back. She stays the night. The next morning, he offers to contact the railway authorities, but she refuses. She reveals she is a psychiatrist and begins to share her story.

Chaithali was married to Zincho, who was her patient. He had sought therapy after his first wife’s suicide. They fell in love and married. Later, she discovered his substance abuse and violent nature. Zincho was admitted to an asylum, where he killed a matron to escape. She learned from his diary that he killed his first wife. Fleeing from him, she jumped off the train.

Raghu shares his past. He grew up with his mother, who wanted him to marry. He didn’t take her wish seriously and regretted it after her death. Now, he lives in isolation. Raghu believes fate brought Chaithali to him. They grow close, and Raghu finds joy in her company.

While cleaning, Chaithali discovers Raghu’s identity card with another man’s photo. She also finds newspaper clippings about a family murder. Frightened, she confronts Raghu with a knife. He disarms her and explains his past.

Raghu says he married through an arrangement. His wife brought her “cousin” to live with them. They had two children. Later, Raghu learned he was infertile. He found his wife in bed with the man, realizing the cousin was her lover. Enraged, he killed them, their children, and suspected his wife of killing his mother. He fled and assumed another man’s identity—Raghu’s—after that man’s death.

Chaithali decides to stay with Raghu. He sends her to fetch water from a nearby abandoned village. While she is gone, Zincho appears, searching for her. Raghu lies about her whereabouts. Zincho claims he is a psychiatrist and that Chaithali, whom he calls Shikha, is dangerous. According to Zincho, she was his patient, a drug addict who killed the asylum matron and assumed her identity.

Raghu confronts Chaithali. She denies Zincho’s story, claiming Shikha was his first wife. Unable to convince Raghu, she surrenders to Zincho. As they leave, Raghu pleads for her to stay. Seizing the moment, Chaithali attacks Zincho. When he stirs, Raghu kills him.

Later, Raghu finds a medical bill in Zincho’s pocket. It confirms Zincho’s claim that Chaithali is Shikha. Before he can react, Shikha kills him with a shovel.

The story ends with Raghu, now revealed as George, resuming his duties as the gatekeeper. Shikha is presumably dead. A flashback reveals George fabricated his past and had killed the family of his ex-girlfriend.

In the final scene, a mysterious creature watches George’s house from an inverted perspective, accompanied by a growl.
